Position: Quantity Surveyor

Division: UK Construction / Construction North

Location: Regional office is Birmingham

Reporting to: Managing Surveyor

Construction North is a segment of the UK Construction division, encompassing the Midlands, the North, and Scotland. Projects typically range from £5 million to £50 million, primarily in the Public Sector, with some initiatives in the Private Sector. Key sectors include Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Health, and Commercial offices.

Role Overview

The Quantity Surveyor / Project Surveyor will oversee all financial processes in collaboration with the Senior Surveyor. This role is ideal for a Surveyor with a professional and proactive demeanor who is eager to enhance their management capabilities. Candidates should be resilient, organized, and possess a strong history of collaborating closely with clients. Exceptional attention to detail is crucial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recommend trade contractors, systems, and manufacturers for team evaluation.
  • Lead the valuation process.
  • Understand element costings and costs per square meter.
  • Develop initial project budgets and finalize detailed cost plans with the Senior Surveyor for agreement with the professional team.
  • Prepare and oversee Bid Package Tender Schedules.
  • Ensure the flow of information to and from ISG is fully authorized at all times.
  • Manage the change process in collaboration with the extended team.
  • Instruct accounts to issue invoices to clients.
  • Conclude financial accounts and retention releases (with line manager approval).
  • Prepare Cost/Value Reconciliation (CVR), generate regular budget and price updates, update computerized cost control systems, and compile monthly cost and progress reports for responsible Interior directors.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in successfully executing a surveying role on projects valued at £3 million and above, delivering within time and budget constraints while maintaining high quality.
  • Preferably, prior experience with major structural work on existing buildings.
