Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Engagement Specialist to join our Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering targeted interventions to young people facing challenges related to substance use, particularly those at risk of school exclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support plans and guidance to children, adolescents, and their families navigating various difficulties.
  • Advocate for the needs of young individuals and maintain open communication with schools and educational authorities.
  • Facilitate constructive dialogue and mediation between students and school staff to address conflicts and promote positive relationships.
  • Conduct home and school visits across South Gloucestershire to provide personalized support and build rapport with families and educators.
  • Maintain meticulous records and reports in accordance with service protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the most appropriate interventions tailored to each young person's unique circumstances.
  • Deliver engaging presentations and group sessions to educate young people and professionals on relevant topics related to substance use prevention and support.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess an NVQ3 qualification in Social Care, Youth Work, or Teaching, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience working with young individuals or families requiring additional support services.
  • Exhibit proficiency in IT skills, report writing, and risk assessment procedures.
  • Possess exceptional relationship-building abilities, particularly when engaging with challenging youth populations.
  • Have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and ethical guidelines governing children and young people's services.
  • Hold a valid driving license and have access to a reliable vehicle for travel within the South Gloucestershire area.
