About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Aviva's Commercial Lines Data Science department as a Commercial Data Scientist, specializing in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS). As a key member of the team, you will work closely with external data and software vendors, internal stakeholders, and the rest of the team to maintain Aviva's reputation as an industry leader in the use of GIS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver innovative geospatial rating factors and geospatial insights to help shape and drive the analytics agenda forward.
  • Work with the Data Science Team to develop and implement geospatial systems and applications to deliver insights to end-users.
  • Implement Aviva's Flood Strategy and support the business in selecting the correct risks to underwrite.
Requirements
  • A degree in Geography, GIS, or a related subject.
  • Advanced GIS analytics knowledge and software skills, including the ESRI, Geoserver, Postgres, Postgis technology stack.
  • Experience of relational databases, geodatabases, SQL.
  • Flood modelling knowledge/experience and open-source desktop GIS experience is desirable.
  • R/Python coding knowledge and web mapping application development would also be advantageous.

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 (location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
