About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of key CS&A design deliverables and ensuring that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations, and customer specific standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Act as the project's single point of authority and accountability for the CS&A engineering discipline.
  2. Lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients' responsible engineering team.
  3. Responsible for the development of key CS&A design deliverables.
  4. Checking and Approval of calculations.
  5. Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations, and customer specific standards.
  6. Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
  7. Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented.
  8. Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages.
  9. Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget.
  10. Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
  11. Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM.
  12. Present CS&A engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
  13. Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs.
  14. Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
  15. Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
  16. Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company's capabilities.
  17. Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher.
  2. Chartered Member of the ICE.
  3. Must be legally eligible to work in the UK (this is a permanent position and no sponsorship is available).
  4. Minimum 5+ years' experience in industry.
  5. Ideally 2+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector.
  6. Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied.
  7. Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques of CS&A design.
  8. Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment.
  9. Broad experience of civil construction and construction management.
  10. Strong knowledge of designing for seismic, blast and impact load effects.
