Job Title: Database Team Lead

The Human Resources Lead will be an integral member of the Management Team. Reporting to the Head of HR and supported by the HR administrator, they will play a critical role, providing high-quality HR advice, guidance, and support in line with best practice and employment legislation.

They will work closely with all our line managers on matters including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, internal communications, and health and well-being along with the safety of our employees, including International and the Reprocessing Site.

The HR Lead will be an ambassador for the Business, consistently demonstrating our values and delivering a highly dependable and people-focused service to employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on and support the HR Administrator with all aspects of the recruitment of all roles from assistant to Senior Manager level within the business, keeping within the agreed recruitment budget and strategy.
  • Build relationships with key recruiters.
  • Ensure all job descriptions are kept up to date and reviewed annually.
  • Continue to develop the use of in-house recruitment.

Employee Relations

  • Provide day-to-day advice to line managers on all human resources issues; management of employees, remuneration, maternity, paternity, etc.
  • Direct and co-ordinate responses to discipline and grievance matters ensuring adherence to company policy and legislation.
  • Monitor all sickness absences and provide recommendations and effective solutions to reduce levels where necessary.
  • Provide individual coaching and advisory support to all employees and managers as and when required.

Engagement / Health & Well-Being / Core Values

  • With the support of the Leadership Team (LT) and HR Administrator launch, drive, and implement the annual Employee Engagement Survey across the business.
  • With the support of the LT ensure that all results are analysed and compared to previous years and produced in an understandable and readable format to be communicated to employees.
  • Review, develop, and implement suitable employee engagement activities which add value to both the organisation and employee.
  • Support the HR Administrator with the execution of the annual Health & Well-Being activity plan.

Employee Performance, Succession Planning & Development

  • Implement and manage the annual and mid-year appraisal and probationary period process, ensuring all paperwork and tools are relevant and up to date.
  • Develop, design, and implement onsite training activities for all levels of employees on relevant employment law / HR related activities.
  • Work with the LT on the Talent Management Process for the business.
  • Ensure the booking of all employee training activities in accordance with the training budget and outcomes of individual appraisals.
  • Identify free or funded training with local providers and source business grants to further enhance the business training & development offer.
  • Support employees in creating effective personal development plans and advise on how to keep these effective and current.
  • Drive the business learning programmes (Graduate & GROW) encouraging interest and uptake.

Employment Policies, Procedures, and Contract of Employment

  • Support in the development, updating, implementation, and monitoring of effective and relevant employment policies and procedures that foster good employee relations and which comply with UK employment legislation, etc.
  • Support on any consultations relating to changes in terms and conditions of employment in a professional and legally compliant manner, for all employees (UK and International).
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation of all aspects of the HR function.
  • Support and lead on resolving in a professional and legally compliant way any difficult to manage employment-related issues.

Remuneration & Reward

  • To support the LT in the review and success of all benefits.
  • To support with the renewal of any benefits that are due to for renewal during the financial year, including finding providers which offer good value for money.
  • With support from the HR Administrator launch and communicate any new benefit schemes and continue to promote.

HR Reporting and Administration

  • Ensure that all KPI / key HR metrics are updated on a monthly basis and communicated to the LT, along with the highlighting of any key areas of concern.
  • Ensure that all employee HR files are kept up to date and compliant with relevant legislation.

HR & Business Projects

  • To support with the implementation of key HR and business projects.

Internal Communications

  • Continue to drive and support the internal communications strategy, and implementation plans.
  • Ensure that all monthly pay exceptions are captured correctly in the HR system.
  • Manage International payments each month ensuring this is communicated to each provider on time each month.
  • Pension contributions are submitted in a timely manner and cross-checked for accuracy.

Strategic & Budget

  • Ensure that all activities are in line with the set annual budget.
  • Work with the LT to build a strong working environment and a positive, performance-driven culture which attracts and retains talent.

Office & Facilities

  • Ensure the smooth running of the office environment working with the HR Administrator, ensuring that employees are treated as internal customers.
  • Liaise directly with all third-party contractors including any renewal of annual agreements.
  • Plan and lead on the annual employee celebrations including the annual Christmas Party.
  • Work closely with the LT on the Health & Safety of the site and employees.
