Following the achievements of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear construction venture in Suffolk, having secured planning approval and government financial backing. Upon completion, it will deliver reliable electricity to 6 million households for 60 years, supporting the UK's goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Position Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Utilities Project Manager to become an integral part of our Utilities team at Sizewell C (SZC). This is an opportune moment to engage with a dynamic project.
Our teams operate with flexibility, adopting a hybrid work model that balances office and remote work. We equip our employees with comprehensive IT resources to facilitate effective home working.
Key Responsibilities
As the primary point of contact, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and overseeing all utilities project operations, ensuring compliance with timelines and financial plans.
- Defining project scope and delivering results in accordance with the New Roads and Streetworks Act or other relevant agreements.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and milestones.
- Implementing best practices in project management to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Supervising contractor and subcontractor activities, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, utilizing effective communication to foster partnerships with delivery teams and operations.
- Assisting the Utilities Manager in executing the Sizewell C utility strategy, with ongoing involvement in initiatives aimed at improving project safety and delivery.
Additionally, you will demonstrate industry knowledge and experience in utility services, including Telecommunications, Potable Water, Foul Water, Natural Gas, and Power (including Sub-stations). A background in Utilities, Civil Engineering, or Construction is preferred.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge and experience in utility services and project management operations.
- Familiarity with service avoidance and safe digging practices, in line with HSG 47.
- Understanding of utilities Builder Work in Connection (BWIC) and CDM Regulations.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery in a similar environment.
- Strong communication and decision-making abilities, with experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- A willingness to learn from both successes and setbacks.
- The intellectual capacity to navigate complex issues and foster a collaborative team environment.
- The ability to adapt and re-prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in New Roads & Streetworks Act.
- Recognized Utilities Safety Card (EUSR, etc.) Accreditation.
- National Water Hygiene Accreditation.
- SMSTS Certification.
