The Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is dedicated to ensuring the safety of a diverse population exceeding 800,000 in the Southeast of England. Our team comprises approximately 400 firefighters operating from 19 fire stations, supported by around 100 specialized personnel across various functions, including ICT and fire prevention. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all employees.
Role Overview:
As a Community Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing community safety through data-driven strategies and initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Home Fire Safety Visits across various settings, including residential homes, specialized housing, and sheltered accommodations.
- Assisting fire crews with the ongoing High Rise Project to ensure safety in high-rise buildings.
- Installing risk mitigation equipment, such as smoke alarms, in residences as necessary.
- Supporting the Firewise Intervention Officer in managing referrals related to youth fire-setting behaviors.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Adaptability and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data management.
- A commitment to supporting the broader Prevention Team and local fire stations in community safety initiatives.
- Experience in assessing and addressing risks within residential environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills to design and implement targeted community safety programs.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have English and Maths GCSE at Level 4 to 9, or equivalent qualifications.
