Bridgend, Bridgend county borough, United Kingdom Swansea Bay University Health Board Full time

Overview of the Role

We are excited to announce a position for a Clinical Forensic Psychologist within the Wales Offender Personality Disorder Pathway Team (OPDP). This role is a collaborative effort with HM Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) and is hosted by Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB), encompassing work throughout South Wales.

The National OPDP Pathway provides a consultation and formulation-driven service aimed at assisting individuals with intricate needs and risks during their transition from incarceration to community reintegration. Those within the Criminal Justice System often experience multifaceted mental health challenges, trauma-related symptoms, and difficulties in managing risk-associated behaviors. Our primary objectives include:

  • Assisting Probation Practitioners in their efforts to manage risks associated with individuals on probation.
  • Supporting individuals on probation in addressing their complex needs and risk-related behaviors.

We seek a dedicated professional who is passionate about enhancing risk management strategies for this demographic and is prepared to respond to diverse needs across the South Wales region.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway Team (OPDP), you will join a progressive, highly specialized, and supportive multidisciplinary team comprising psychologists, probation officers, and transitional liaison nurses.

While your administrative base will be at SBUHB, the majority of your work will involve agile, autonomous operations across various probation sites in South Wales. This is a part-time, permanent position that requires travel across a broad geographical area.

The OPDP team is committed to staff development and support, offering opportunities for national networking and participation in research aimed at improving service access in Wales.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing service enhancements alongside fellow professionals and service users. Continuous support will be provided through clinical supervision.
