Faculty Commercial Legal Counsel

Faculty is a leading provider of AI solutions, transforming organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-led AI. We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team, working closely with our General Counsel, Senior Legal & Compliance Manager, and other Faculty staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice on commercial and public sector contracts, IP & licensing, and privacy.
  • Support the rollout of Governance, Risk, Compliance & Ethics functions, ensuring compliance with customer security and governance requirements.
  • Act as subject matter expert in IP, privacy, and regulatory issues surrounding LLMs, including OpenAI partnership.
  • Support the People team with UK & international employment issues, including contract updates and exit matters.
  • Manage governance, risk and compliance projects and issues, e.g., risk management, privacy audits, policies.
  • Run capability building training across the business on good contracting, AI governance, privacy, procurement, and novel issues arising at the cutting edge of AI.
Requirements:
  • Trained and qualified with a leading law firm and worked in commercial technology and IP teams with exposure to privacy compliance.
  • Strong background in commercial technology law, capable of providing counsel, negotiation, and drafting for complex contracts involving IP, privacy, government frameworks, product design and compliance.
  • Technical excellence in commercial law, IP, and privacy, capable of adapting to a wide range of contract-related demands and legal issues.
  • Highly organised, able to help streamline our systems and processes as we scale into a large international company.
