Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for you to become a part of our team as a Senior Programming and Engagement Officer. We seek an individual who can connect audiences to our offerings by crafting and executing imaginative programming that captivates diverse groups.
This position is a fixed-term contract, concluding when the current employee returns from maternity leave. The exact duration of this contract cannot be confirmed at this time, but it is expected to be no longer than 13 months.

Work Environment

Reporting to the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, you will be an integral member of the Visitor Operations & Experience Team, overseeing our Programme Assistant and event volunteers.
Petworth House and Park is undergoing transformation, and we are eager to welcome innovative individuals to our team. We are committed to enhancing the visitor experience and showcasing our internationally acclaimed collection of art and sculpture, along with our historic park designed by Capability Brown. Our goal is to prioritize our audience and supporters in all our endeavors, creating exceptional experiences for our visitors.
We operate 363 days a year and are witnessing growth in our visitor numbers, from local communities to families. While we take pride in our international significance, our focus remains on becoming a beloved and relevant destination for our local community.
Occasional weekend and evening work will be required for events, and you will also participate in a rota system as a duty manager.

Your Responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our year-round public programming, including our major seasonal events. You will seek opportunities for collaboration, identifying new community and commercial partnerships.
Your programming will be informed by audience needs and interests, reflecting the rich narratives of our property and the ongoing efforts to preserve them.
As you engage with regular visitors and reach out to new audiences, you will be curious about the impact of your programming, evaluating and incorporating insights into future initiatives to foster continuous improvement and innovation.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in building and nurturing partnership relationships to provide engagement opportunities for visitors, volunteers, or local communities.
