Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy (0.6 to 1.0 full-time equivalent)

We are seeking experienced educators with strong clinical and academic expertise to instruct in our BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, pre-registration MSc Physiotherapy, and postgraduate programs.

Our Lecturers also serve as personal tutors, employing effective listening, interpersonal, and pastoral care skills to address sensitive student matters, recognizing individual student needs, and referring them to appropriate specialist services when necessary.

Candidates should be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Physiotherapist and possess a postgraduate qualification, along with experience in clinical supervision. A solid understanding of higher education teaching principles is essential. You should be capable of contributing to key areas of the physiotherapy curriculum in a research-informed manner.

To be considered for this position, you should have:

A relevant degree in physiotherapy plus a postgraduate MSc, or alternatively a relevant first degree plus a pre-registration MSc in Physiotherapy. Candidates nearing completion of a post-registration MSc will also be considered. Current and active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Physiotherapist, or a commitment to obtain this within the first year. A Higher Education teaching qualification and/or a HEA Fellowship is required, or a willingness to pursue this within the first year. Recent professional experience as a senior practitioner. Up-to-date knowledge of current developments in health, including clinical, professional, and policy advancements, as well as the generic skills necessary for teaching the subject. Experience in implementing innovative approaches to teaching and learning in physiotherapy, whether in academic settings or clinical practice.

It is advantageous to hold postgraduate qualifications and maintain an active research portfolio. If you possess a Doctorate and can supervise at this level, you will find opportunities for development, as the university actively supports early career researchers. Experience in acute care physiotherapy is desirable, as is familiarity with managing respiratory conditions. However, we welcome physiotherapists from diverse backgrounds to educate students in fundamental science and patient management skills, as well as in areas such as leadership and professionalism.

This position is for multiple permanent roles totaling 1.8 FTE, with opportunities for candidates seeking to work part-time or job share.
