Position Overview:

As the Site Manager at McAleer & Rushe, you will oversee the on-site management team dedicated to delivering projects that meet quality standards, budget constraints, and timelines while ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to effectively plan and execute the project, ensuring all requirements, specifications, design documents, and health & safety proposals are finalized and a comprehensive schedule is established.
  • Implement an emergency response plan and set up essential site facilities for the duration of the project.
  • Organize and maintain secure storage for materials, equipment, and tools, managing inventory to align with project timelines.
  • Ensure site security, including controlled access and egress points.
  • Create a detailed material procurement schedule, placing orders in advance to secure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
  • Develop a labor schedule in partnership with the Project Manager to ensure timely engagement of subcontractor services, while monitoring progress against this schedule.
  • Provide first aid facilities and designate a first aid area on-site.
  • Maintain safety for all individuals on-site, including the public and staff, by enforcing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Ensure the integrity of perimeter barriers and the security of completed work, stored materials, and equipment.
  • Supervise all site personnel, ensuring compliance with safety inductions, quality control measures, and operational standards.
  • Guarantee that all construction work meets the required standards across various trades such as bricklaying, plastering, and carpentry.
  • Verify that all materials used, including those from subcontractors, comply with technical and quality specifications.
  • Track and manage all deliveries to the site, ensuring proper checks and storage while overseeing the deployment of materials.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the workforce involved in the project.
  • Oversee daily site operations, including the management of labor force and subcontractor activities.
  • Plan and organize site facilities and equipment efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure quality control and adherence to McAleer & Rushe's health & safety management practices.
  • Prepare necessary reports for the Project Manager and Contracts Director.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to address unexpected technical challenges and report these to the Project Manager and Contracts Director.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or HND in Construction Management or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar site management roles on projects valued at £10M or more.
  • Current valid CSR or CSCS Card at management level.
  • Thorough understanding of current Health & Safety regulations.
  • Qualified first aider.
  • Strong communication and planning abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Commercially aware with a proven ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage budgets effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects forward and maintain high work standards.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to work at various site locations across the UK and Ireland.
  • Must possess the appropriate work permit or right to work in the UK.
