We are currently seeking a Marine Operations Supervisor to support the Marine Manager in ensuring that our vessels adhere to the required standards and regulations set forth by the Company, Customers, Class, and Flag State Statutory regulations. The Marine Operations Supervisor will ensure that our vessels are operated by qualified personnel in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner while fully complying with all necessary requirements.

As a Marine Operations Supervisor, you will take on the responsibilities of Deputy Designated Person Ashore (DDPA) and, when necessary, Deputy Company Security Officer (DCSO) for ISPS vessels operated by Serco NorthLink Ferries.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute strategies to ensure compliance with Customer, Company, and Regulatory requirements for vessels operated by qualified personnel, maintaining safety and efficiency while achieving contract deliverables.
  • Conduct regular reviews of operational procedures, monitoring compliance through audits, drills, and assessments to uphold professional standards.
  • Identify issues within the Vessel Management System (VMS) and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented and verified.
  • Oversee trials and execution to develop and maintain safe operational procedures for both existing and new vessels, including conducting hazard identifications, risk assessments, and creating Operational Safety Case reports.
  • Build and maintain a network of internal and external relationships to meet current and future regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary contact for Customers and Harbour Authorities regarding safety assurance and regulatory matters.
  • Collaborate with Marine & Technical Managers to ensure all assigned vessels are maintained in a safe and seaworthy condition in line with Company procedures and statutory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • STCW Reg. II/2 Master (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or equivalent with relevant vocational qualifications.
  • Preferred proven seagoing experience in a Command role.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Demonstrated success and broad experience in maritime operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of maritime operational requirements and industry practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
