We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team at the Chichester Centre, Low Secure inpatient services. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, contributing to the development of better provision and capacity for Forensic Healthcare Services.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients on the low secure ward, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective treatment and management plans. You will also participate in the planning and development of local Mental Health Services, contributing to improving the standards of mental health care within Sussex.
Key Responsibilities- Act as an Approved/Responsible Clinician for patients subject to the Mental Health Act.
- Offer training to professionals and participate in the on-call rota.
- Participate in business planning for the locality and contribute to the broader strategic and planning work of the Trust.
- Lead the improvement of quality of care within the team and system.
- Provide assessments of prisoners thought to require hospital admission.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- In good standing with the GMC with respect to warnings and conditions on practice.
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
- Able to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post within the NHS or comparable service.
