Key Responsibilities- Plant and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the highest standards and completed in a timely manner in accordance with standard operating policies, procedures, manufacture guidelines, and statutory requirements.
- Planned Preventative Maintenance: Ensure that planned preventative maintenance is carried out within the correct time frames.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Carry out related work, such as recording time and materials expended on each work order and estimating quantities of materials needed for tasks.
- Contractor Management: Assist with the management of engineering and estates contractors and maintain excellent working relationships with our suppliers.
- Permit to Work: Issue permits to work for staff and external contractors where required.
- System Testing: Carry out regular testing of systems as specified, such as emergency lighting, water temperature, fire alarms, and emergency generator, and ensure that results are recorded and maintained.
- Electrical Appliance Testing: Manage the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe and tested as required under Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
- FM Software Management: Assist in the management of the Engineering and Estates FM software, ensuring records are up to date.
- Work Order Management: Manage and prioritize work orders raised on the FM software and provide regular reports on progress and KPIs.
- Asset Management: Assist in the management of engineering and estates assets, associated record keeping, and documentation for equipment, showing type, model number, date of installation, and extent of service etc.
- Installation and Maintenance: Assist with overseeing the installation and maintenance of systems within buildings, including lighting, communications, and security.
- System Monitoring: Ensure that water supplies and drainage, electrical systems, boilers, and alarms are working well within buildings.
- HVAC Management: Ensure HVAC systems keep all hospital areas safe to use and at the right temperature.
- Minor Works: Perform a variety of duties in and around the buildings and grounds of the hospital complex, carrying out minor works such as carpentry, plastering, and painting in connection with repair work.
- Equipment Repair and Maintenance: Repair, install, replace, and test equipment and appliances using hand tools and testing instruments.
- Access and Repair: Gain access to and remove defective parts, and competently make repairs or replace defective mechanical or electrical parts where required.
- Tool Maintenance: Make repairs, clean, lubricate, and store maintenance tools and equipment.
- Interpretation of Drawings: Interpret drawings and diagrams to ascertain layout, location, and specifications of systems, items of equipment, and plant.
- Adaptability: Handle a variety of changing duties resulting from the complexities of equipment.
- Compliance: Work within limits and standards set by operating policies, procedures, manufacture guidelines, and statutory requirements.
- Medical Equipment Management: Assist in managing medical equipment and devices, maintenance, and repairs with suppliers and contractors.
- Transportation: Transport materials and tools by hand or dolly and perform tasks as directed.
- Drawings and Schematics: Ensure that engineering and estates drawings and schematics are maintained and up to date.
- Stock Management: Manage maintenance stock levels to support PPMs and general stock.
- Business Continuity: Assist in ensuring business continuity plans and procedures are fit for purpose.
Requirements
- Engineering experience in a healthcare environment (2 years preferred)
- Facilities maintenance experience (3 years required)
