Position Overview

The primary function of this role is to manage and facilitate the safe and efficient execution of cable and pipelay system initiatives. This includes providing expert guidance, oversight, and mentorship to both the onshore support personnel and field technicians regarding all operational and maintenance tasks. The individual will be accountable for ensuring that the operations and maintenance of cable and pipelay systems are conducted to the highest standards, with a strong emphasis on ongoing enhancement.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver technical, operational, and commercial support for Cable and Pipe Lay Systems (CPLS), focusing on the following areas:

· Establishing benchmarks and expectations for project planning and support from project controls and engineering teams, as well as execution by site technicians.

· Defining standards and expectations for site technicians, from initial pre-mobilization briefings to the validation of operational and maintenance activities on-site.

· Offering technical mentorship and guidance to the business development team, project controls, engineering teams, and both workshop and site technicians to meet client and organizational expectations for flawless operations and maintenance delivery.

· Actively participating in site instructions and troubleshooting activities related to Cable & Pipe Lay equipment.

· Leading by example with a commitment to continuous improvement in operations and maintenance execution—ensuring processes are effective and optimized through formal reviews and collaboration with support teams.

· Conducting operations and maintenance audits across various equipment and sites to verify compliance with established standards.

· Facilitating After Action Reviews (AARs) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for instances where operations and maintenance were not executed correctly, ensuring that lessons learned are documented to prevent future occurrences.

· Assessing the training needs of workshop and site technicians to enhance their skill sets for project delivery.

· Collaborating with all internal support teams and the broader organization to provide a comprehensive Cable and Pipe Lay System service.

· Engaging with both internal and external clients to ensure a consistently professional service is delivered promptly.

Contributing to the advancement of new systems, procedures, and initiatives specifically related to Cable and Pipe Lay System projects.

· Participating in team and planning meetings.

· Contributing to special meetings and working groups.

· Directly liaising with discipline engineering leads.

· Proactively identifying necessary process and business enhancements and implementing them as needed.

· Engaging in knowledge sharing of best practices among colleagues.

Actively promoting a robust safety culture by:

· Leading and participating in safety engagement forums.

· Exemplifying correct safety behaviors at all times.

· Communicating the importance of safety and ensuring that personnel feel supported in halting unsafe operations.

· Consulting with the HSEQ Representative as needed and supporting the implementation of safety initiatives.

· Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures, including the immediate reporting of incidents to the appropriate personnel.

· Executing HSEQ plan actions and initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Relevant experience with cable and pipelay systems to fulfill the role requirements.

· Sufficient onshore engineering experience to support the role requirements.

Additional Information:

  • This is an office-based role with occasional site visits as required.
