Job Overview:

Yorkshire Water is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Support Specialist to join our Operational IT team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of our network systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second-line technical support for network-related issues, including triaging and resolving complex problems.
  • Monitor network performance and security, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
  • Assist with the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to implement network enhancements and upgrades.
  • Manage and resolve incidents and service requests related to network systems in a timely manner.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Document all support activities, including incident resolution steps and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Manage relationships with network and telephony system suppliers to ensure timely and effective support and service delivery.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) for network and telephony systems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on incident status and resolution.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a network support role.
  • Proven experience with Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, and F5 Load Balancer systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, switching, and routing.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Juniper Networks Certified Specialist, or F5 Certified Administrator.
  • Experience with other network technologies and vendors.
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and service management best practices.
