Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated rehabilitation therapists to participate in our developmental program.

This progressive initiative is a collaboration between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford District Care Foundation Trust. It offers opportunities to enhance clinical expertise and competencies across a diverse range of environments in both physical and mental health services, ultimately benefiting service users in the Airedale and Bradford regions. The clinical domains encompass:

- Inpatient physical care - Orthopaedics, medical, and stroke rehabilitation

- Inpatient mental health services

- Community rehabilitation teams

- Community mental health teams for adults and the elderly

- Forensic care

- Services for individuals with learning disabilities

- Pediatric services - Child Development Centre and CAMHS

Successful candidates will be involved in secondment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The developmental program is a collaboration between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and Bradford District Care Foundation Trust, providing secondments to various physical and mental health teams within the Airedale and Bradford areas. Positions within the program are full-time to ensure that graduates can attain the necessary competencies for each clinical area before transitioning and to support both individual and service growth. The clinical specialties included in the program are:

  • Inpatient physical care - Orthopaedics, medical, and stroke rehabilitation
  • Inpatient mental health services
  • Community rehabilitation teams
  • Community mental health teams for working-age adults and the elderly
  • Forensic care
  • Services for individuals with learning disabilities
  • Pediatric services - Child Development Centre and CAMHS

Services typically operate on weekdays, but some teams may require more flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

  • Prioritize, plan, and deliver clinical casework with the guidance and supervision of a senior therapist.
  • Utilize evidence-based knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with patients, caregivers, the multidisciplinary team (MDT), and broader statutory, private, and voluntary sector services.
  • Work alongside team members to ensure the effective operation of the team.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the training and development of students.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent pre-registration qualification in occupational therapy.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council.

  • Membership in relevant professional special interest groups or organizations.

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant and recent undergraduate experience in various clinical settings.
  • Undergraduate experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration and working with other professionals and agencies.

  • Recent postgraduate experience in neuro-occupational therapy.
  • Familiarity with IT applications.
  • Experience in audit and research.

  • Understanding of standardized and non-standardized assessments and treatments relevant to occupational therapy practice.
