Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Group at the University of Reading. As a Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Demand Flexibility, you will play a key role in analyzing data on electricity demand and developing research to measure demand-side flexibility.

About the Role

You will work under the supervision of Prof. Torriti and Dr. Ramirez-Mendiola, undertaking research that includes:

  • Working with data on electricity consumption, time use activities, and energy tariffs pricing of households
  • Collecting and analyzing data on demand response services, including the National Grid ESO Demand Flexibility Service

Key Responsibilities

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and applying data handling and analysis techniques
  • Preparing conference and journal research outputs
  • Engaging with the wider Energy Demand Research Centre community, particularly under the Flexibility theme

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A PhD (or nearly completed PhD) in engineering, economics, or social sciences
  • Strong data analytics skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
