About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate VAP Clinic Nurse to join our team at Velindre Cancer Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in assessing patients who are due to receive chemotherapy or Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) in the next 2-3 days.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs in partnership with patients and their carers, working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
  • Liaise and provide guidance on patient care to healthcare teams as requested.
  • Act as the named nurse/keyworker for designated individuals, ensuring they receive care according to plan.
  • Delegate care to other team members as appropriate, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

Requirements
  • 1st or 2nd Level registered nurse or practitioner.
  • Degree or working towards a degree.
  • NMC standards.
  • Chemotherapy awareness.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching and assessment skills.
  • Clinical assessment skills.
  • Willingness to undertake specialist oncology module in chemotherapy.
  • Understanding of the wider policy influences on the NHS.
