Autism Support Worker Job Description

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Worker to join their team at a SEMH school in Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have special educational needs and a strong understanding of autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with autism and complex needs
  • Assist with small group activities and support the development of social and emotional skills
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Support the child's daily routine and provide a safe and nurturing environment

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children who have learning difficulties and complex needs
  • Positive and engaging personality with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging setting with patience and understanding
  • Knowledge of PECS or Makaton an advantage

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay rate of £76.92 - £95 per day
  • Full-time (term-time only) position with a regular schedule
  • Location: Portsmouth
