Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) Full time

Position Overview

Are you prepared to contribute significantly to the advancement of digital healthcare?

In alignment with our Digital Strategy, we are embarking on an extensive initiative to implement a variety of cutting-edge clinical IT solutions throughout the organization. This effort aims to fully digitize patient records and provide clinical personnel with efficient, straightforward, and secure access to patient information. Our modern infrastructure will be complemented by connections to our Group Hospital partner.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Certified Clinical Coder. Acknowledging the evolving landscape of Clinical Coding, we offer flexible working arrangements, including the option for fully remote work (with a minimum requirement of biannual on-site visits), a hybrid model, or full-time office work. As a vital member of our team, you will be tasked with assigning diagnostic and procedural clinical codes that accurately represent essential patient information, inputting this data into the Trust's Electronic Patient Record through specialized Clinical Coding software. Your role will not only ensure data integrity but also contribute to the financial sustainability of the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Extracting clinical data from various medical documents, clinical audits, and pathology and radiology systems.
  • Translating medical terminology into national coding standards.
  • Producing consistent, accurate, complete, and timely coded clinical data to assist management and clinicians in monitoring, planning, and delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Collaborating with a diverse range of hospital staff, including medical records personnel and clinical staff, to ensure the appropriate ICD10 and OPCS4 codes are utilized to represent the care provided.
