Job Title: SEN Teacher

About the Role:

GSL Education is seeking an experienced Special Educational Needs Teacher to join our team in an Alternative Provision in East Riding of Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a supportive and dedicated team of staff, providing high-quality education to children and young people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a person-centred and personalised curriculum for a small number of students with neurodiverse needs, predominantly following a Primary curriculum.
  • Engage learners through educational activities, and the use of resources available, such as a walled garden, sports facilities, and IT equipment.
  • Incorporate English and Maths skills into lessons.
  • Enhance the social, emotional, and academic skills of the young people being taught.
  • Work in partnership with Teaching Assistants and Senior Leaders to ensure EHCP outcomes are met.

Requirements:

  • Hold a UK recognised teaching qualification, such as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Cert Ed, BA Honours Degree with QTS or QTLS.
  • At least 6 months experience working with young people with additional needs or behavioural challenges.
  • Experience creating personalised curriculums and learning plans.
  • Knowledgeable about behaviours linked to a range of additional needs, including trauma, social, emotional, and mental health needs, ADHD, and Autism.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
