London, Greater London, United Kingdom Barts Health NHS Trust Full time

Job Overview

We invite applications for a locum Consultant in Cellular Pathology / Histopathology position within the Department of Cellular Pathology at Barts Health NHS Trust. This role is essential for providing Histopathology reporting, particularly in Gynaecological Pathology, across our network of hospitals. Barts Health stands as one of the foremost healthcare providers in the UK, delivering exceptional clinical care across multiple facilities. Our hospitals are dedicated to offering a comprehensive range of services to the community, housing several leading specialist centres. The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic have allowed our consultant team to adopt flexible working arrangements, both geographically and temporally, ensuring the continuity of our services despite restrictions. We aim to maintain these beneficial changes to support a healthy work-life balance while delivering outstanding service to our users, which remains a top priority for our Department. Our digital transformation is underway, including the implementation of large volume slide scanning, remote frozen section macroscopy, and a shift towards glass/paper-free operations.

Main Responsibilities

This position is located in the modern Pathology and Pharmacy building at the Royal London hospital. Our Cellular Pathology services are delivered along specialized lines, ensuring high-quality outcomes. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our team, contributing to our commitment to excellence.

Candidates must possess full GMC registration with a license to practice and be on the GMC's Specialist Register or be within six months of obtaining a CCT at the time of the interview.

This is a full-time position, although applicants interested in part-time opportunities are encouraged to apply.

Working with Us

Barts Health is among the largest NHS trusts in the country and a leader in healthcare provision. We are embarking on an exciting journey to enhance our services and establish a world-class clinical reputation. Having successfully moved out of special measures, we are now focused on continuous improvement across all patient services.

Our vision is to be recognized as a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, known for innovation and excellence, providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in East London and beyond. This includes ensuring patient safety and delivering consistently high standards of care while fostering an outstanding workplace environment that reflects our WeCare values.

We are dedicated to promoting an inclusive workplace where every staff member feels a sense of belonging, valuing diversity, and supporting an environment that nurtures inclusion.
