Financial Reporting Advisory Assistant Manager

As a key member of our growing financial reporting advisory national team, you will support the wider team and assist managers to deliver work across a portfolio of corporate clients, focusing on technical accounting, financial reporting, and consolidations. This will include the practical application of accounting standards under FRS102, IFRS, and FRS 101, group reconstructions, and accounting considerations, conversion to different GAAPs, technical accounting papers, and acquisition accounting support.
The role will also involve the preparation and/or management of statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101. You will have the opportunity to develop further skill sets, including business development and coaching of junior staff. You will also work with a variety of colleagues and businesses across the UK, as well as supporting your local office.
Responsibilities
- Supporting managers to deliver complex accountancy-related projects for clients, including IFRS transition consultancy work, acquisition accounting, and complex consolidations.
- Developing and maintaining an advanced level of technical knowledge through reading and courses, and fulfilling the professional bodies' CPD requirements.
- Acting as a focal point of contact with clients, communicating problems or contentious issues to the manager or responsible partner, and identifying suggested solutions.
- Managing a portfolio of clients and projects, including client care responsibilities, project management, and WIP/billing management.
- Liaising with other departments within the office, ensuring agreed deadlines are met and significant issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Acting as a coach to more junior members of the team and participating in staff training and supervision as required.
Requirements
- ICAS or equivalent qualification.
- UK GAAP and IFRS financial reporting experience.
- Experience of working in a professional practice, ideally in an equivalent accounting advisory team or experience providing written accounting advice to clients.
- A strong understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and add value.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of working with clients.
- Experience of supervision of junior staff.
- Experience of Microsoft Office, with high competency in both Excel and Word.
