Your new school Hays are recruiting a Full-Time Special Needs Teaching Assistant in Newport to work within a mainstream secondary school's special educational needs department. The school caters for pupils aged 11-18 and offers both mainstream and ALN support for students with a wide variety of abilities and challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Support a 14-year-old student with additional learning needs and some aspects of challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
- Work closely as part of a team with other members of the teaching staff.
- Assist teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
- Create a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
- Demonstrate high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
What You'll Need:
- Experience working with students with special educational needs.
- Ability to work 1:1 with students and as part of a team.
