Key Responsibilities
As a leader in the department, you will oversee the management of Band 2 assistants within designated areas of the dispensary Supply Services.
You will be a critical thinker with strong communication abilities, essential for ensuring the efficient operation of the supply services team. Your leadership will involve tasks such as workflow oversight to guarantee timely delivery of orders to wards and external units. Responsibilities will include selecting and dispensing inventory from pharmacy storage and automated systems, processing returns, ordering supplies, and ensuring timely collections by drivers, all while striving to minimize medication waste.
Proficiency in computer systems is required, although some assistance will be available. The role demands the ability to exercise judgment and initiative in resolving issues for yourself and your team, while also knowing when to consult senior staff. Education and training are vital components of our service, and you will collaborate with the learning and development team to provide training for both new and existing personnel.

Job Duties
You will play a vital role in the daily operations of the Supply Services team, which includes:
- Restocking ward medication supplies using the CMM computer system and providing services to external units under a Wholesaler Dealers Licence.
- Assisting in delivering a safe, efficient, and effective pharmaceutical service at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
- Providing line management for staff in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Dispensing stock items for wards and theatres following departmental guidelines.
- Dispensing stock items to external units under a wholesaler dealers licence.
- Participating in the verification of team members' work when supplying to external units.
- Overseeing specific key areas of the Supply Services team, including approving annual leave, ensuring a robust roster, monitoring sickness, conducting return-to-work interviews, performing annual appraisals, and managing the day-to-day operations of the team.

Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills
- Experience in a hospital pharmacy or similar pharmacy environment
Desirable Qualifications
- Leadership experience or relevant qualifications
- 3 GCSEs at grade C or above or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language
