Position: Technical Security Analyst
Location: Hybrid
Role Overview:
The Technical Security Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the Information Security Manager to uphold the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization's information assets and systems. This position serves as a technical expert responsible for evaluating security policies and controls to ensure their effectiveness and relevance in relation to the identified security risk profile.
With a solid background in Cyber Security and information security, the ideal candidate will either possess a professional qualification or demonstrate a commitment to obtaining the necessary training and credentials. This role is integral to the IT Operations team, ensuring that the business is safeguarded against Cyber threats, capable of responding to incidents, and operates within a robust cyber security management framework.
Key responsibilities include:
- Utilizing established information security risk assessment methodologies to provide expert guidance.
- Conducting threat assessments for both infrastructure and applications to ensure that effective technical and non-technical controls are implemented.
- Documenting information security risk assessments to identify and communicate issues or risks to senior management for remediation.
- Supporting project delivery with security risk assessments and ensuring alignment with the relevant technology change framework.
- Identifying security gaps and advising on the design of new controls and processes for implementation by IT, business units, and third parties.
- Assisting the Information Security Manager in developing penetration testing requirements and managing remediation efforts.
- Interpreting and developing security policies, standards, and baselines, collaborating with project teams to ensure secure solution delivery.
- Conducting periodic internal reviews of systems to identify compliance gaps.
- Creating detailed metrics and reports based on information security risk analysis to mitigate risks.
- Engaging with business units to raise awareness of information security risks, facilitating informed decision-making regarding technology and implementation.
- Developing training materials and organizing training sessions for employees, contractors, and third parties.
- Collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure effective incident resolution.
- Working with the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning teams to integrate cyber response capabilities.
- Managing security alerts in coordination with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Ensuring that vulnerabilities identified by internal and third-party IT teams are managed appropriately.
- Maintaining security assurance functions and engaging with both business and technical teams to resolve operational security issues.
- Operating and maintaining security toolsets and overseeing associated procedures.
- Conducting security risk analyses for new vendors and projects.
- Performing Privacy Impact Assessments for new vendors and projects.

Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- In-depth technical knowledge of cloud security technologies, including Microsoft Defender and Azure Sentinel.
- Familiarity with email and web gateways.
- Understanding of general infrastructure, particularly Windows and Microsoft environments.
- Experience delivering security-based projects within set deadlines.
- Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools such as Qualys and Tenable.
- Proficiency in using Service-Now ticketing tools.
- Experience managing the Incident Management Lifecycle.
- Ability to conduct thorough security investigations and analyze various data sources.
- Strong documentation skills for technical reports and process documentation.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of infrastructure solutions, including firewalls and routers.
- Understanding of GDPR and data protection regulations.
- Familiarity with Cyber Security frameworks such as NIST and ISO27001.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders on security matters.
- Awareness of PCI DSS requirements.
- Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience in the hospitality or retail sectors is a plus.
- Degree-level education or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant security certifications.
- Knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance.
