About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cleaning Operative to join our team at The Oval Centre. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of cleaning service throughout the centre, ensuring that areas are hygienic and clean for our customers and staff to use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of cleaning tasks throughout the centre, including hoovering, dusting, polishing, damp wiping, and mopping.
  • Clean all surfaces, including internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Clean all sanitary areas, including toilets and showers.
  • Refill and restock cleaning supplies and toiletries, including hand wash, toilet paper, and paper towels.
  • Empty all bins and place rubbish in the bins provided at the rear of the building.
  • Operate cleaning machinery, such as dishwashers and buffers.
  • Support the Oval teams with day-to-day tasks, as agreed with the manager.
  • Assist in keeping a full inventory of all cleaning equipment.
  • Assist in the implementation of risk assessments for all areas of work being carried out.
  • Ensure COSHH data is available and up to date for all cleaning products used, and obtain material safety data sheets from suppliers.
  • Undertake COSHH risk assessments for the use of each cleaning product.
  • Ensure that all cleaning equipment used is safe to do so, and that all cleaning equipment is PAT tested and serviced in line with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Order cleaning supplies through approved businesses, as and when required.
  • Report repairs and maintenance in the Centre to the relevant staff/teams.
  • Display a positive attitude to your work and be a proactive member of the team.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Be willing to undertake appropriate training and keep knowledge up to date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Good general standard of education.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products and their use.
  • Able to organize workload in an accurate and methodical manner.
  • Understanding of basic health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to work.
