Job Purpose

Assist the manager with the procurement of terminal and port services in the Europe and Africa region, ensuring alignment with company policies and directions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute and enhance procurement strategies for Alliance and non-Alliance services, leveraging market intelligence and business opportunities.
  • Maximise leverage to secure second-to-none rates and services for Ocean Network Express.
  • Support and participate in regular performance review meetings with terminal and port services related operators.
  • Advise on EDI recommendation/priority setting and ensure compliance with company rules and regulations.
Terminal and Port Services Procurement
  • Coordinate terminal and port services vendor negotiations, providing market intelligence and business opportunities.
  • Handle OOG terminal handling pricing and maintain ongoing relationships with main vendors and local country organizations.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and finalise contracts and service agreements for terminal and port services.
Cost Control and Management
  • Supervise reporting structure and guide to work towards appropriate targets, optimising free pools and identifying avoidable costs.
  • Ensure contractual rebates and incentives are reported and support budget control.
  • Monitor KPIs for internal and external stakeholders and contribute to a cost avoidance and cost recovery mindset.
Compliance and Scope
  • Ensure all transactions in relation to vendor procurement and control are fully compliant with company rules and regulations.
  • Work within set budgets for all relevant cost elements related to terminal and port services, monitoring local regions' working practices in Europe and Africa.
Maintenance of Internal Company System Tools
  • Monitor the correctness and validity of data, allowing front lines to organise pricing in the most efficient way.
  • Update or validate concluded tariff agreements in the system and maintain VRM records in applicable system(s).
Scope of Role

No direct budget, although expected to be mindful of costs and strive for best efficiencies wherever possible.

People Management
  • Assist direct colleagues and cooperate to an environment where everyone is enabled to perform to the best of their abilities.
  • Support team members in order to achieve personal and/or team targets and KPIs.
  • Maintain an effective relationship with regional and local ONE offices, agents, and vendors where required.
Requirements
  • Preferably educated to a minimum of degree level.
  • Three or more years procurement and operations experience pan-Europe preferred.
  • Strong operational/commercial awareness essential.
  • Ability to forge working relationships both internally and with external vendors at multiple levels.
