About the Role

Gemini Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crime Duty Solicitor to join our client's esteemed team. As a leading law firm, our client is committed to delivering exceptional legal services to corporate entities and private individuals across various practice areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Department Director and be responsible for all aspects of Crime work.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members as needed.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including complex and sensitive cases, and ensure compliance with file management procedures.
  • Represent clients at police stations, conduct advocacy in the Magistrates Court, and attend to clients both in and outside of office hours.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing exceptional client care and pro-active approach.
  • Contribute to business development and marketing efforts to supplement work volumes.
Requirements
  • Duty and Police Station Accredited.
  • Higher rights of advocacy qualification is an advantage, although not necessary.
  • Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of application.
  • Committed team player with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
  • Previous supervisory experience is an advantage.
  • Professional with excellent client care skills, analytical and organizational abilities, and the capacity to deal with vulnerable clients and resolve complicated practicalities.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to successfully market the Company and generate new business.
  • Working knowledge of the publically funded Crime work and the ability to service privately funded cases.
  • Extensive experience in handling a Criminal Defence caseload.
  • Excellent IT Skills, familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management skills.
