As a Vice President of Strategic Consulting, you will play a pivotal role within the organization, closely collaborating with top executives to shape strategic initiatives. You will oversee the comprehensive execution of projects aligned with both the firm’s overarching goals and specific business needs. Joining a dedicated team of strategy experts, you will provide critical insights to the executive leadership and board, enabling informed decision-making on key business challenges and opportunities.

Role Objective

Your primary objective will be to deliver impartial and well-rounded advice to senior stakeholders, facilitating effective problem identification, resolution, and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver strategic counsel to Group Executives, aiding in the decision-making regarding business challenges and opportunities.
  2. Design and execute strategic advisory frameworks aimed at enhancing and optimizing the bank's operations through thorough market research and analysis.
  3. Engage with diverse stakeholder groups to determine the most suitable strategic direction to fulfill the needs of Barclays’ clients and investors.
  4. Create financial models that underpin strategic recommendations and transactions, utilizing financial data analysis and evaluating the financial implications of various transactions.
  5. Oversee transaction management, including negotiations, transaction structuring, and post-transaction integration.
  6. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to sustain client relationships and cultivate new connections to identify emerging opportunities.
  7. Monitor industry trends, maintain peer benchmarking, and stay informed about developments in strategic advisory services through conferences, training, and market research.

Expectations for the Vice President Role

  1. Provide guidance to key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on areas of functional and cross-functional impact and alignment.
  2. Assess and mitigate risks in support of the control and governance framework.
  3. Exhibit leadership and accountability in managing risks and enhancing controls related to your team's work.
  4. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of organizational functions to contribute to the achievement of business objectives.
  5. Collaborate with other operational areas to remain informed about business activities and strategies.
  6. Develop solutions based on advanced analytical thinking, comparing and selecting among complex alternatives. In-depth analysis and interpretative thinking will be essential for defining problems and crafting innovative solutions.
  7. Incorporate findings from extensive research into problem-solving methodologies.
  8. Establish and nurture trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve key business goals, employing influencing and negotiation skills to drive outcomes.
