Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to our secondary students in an alternative provision school in Liverpool. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma, and be able to provide compassionate and sensitive support to help them thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students who have struggled in mainstream schools, helping them stay engaged and motivated.
  • Utilize your experience with PRU settings to manage and respond to challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to support students with compassion and sensitivity.
  • De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure support for each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
