Procurement Role for a Leading UK Housebuilder
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team at a prominent UK housebuilder based in Bristol. As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a crucial role in sourcing and purchasing materials for high-quality housing developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement of Building Materials: Assist in the procurement of building materials, products, and services for residential construction projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Support to Senior Buyer: Support the senior buyer in preparing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate records of transactions.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and prices to achieve the best value for the company.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and liaise with site managers to ensure materials are available as needed for ongoing projects.
- Supplier Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of supplier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards and company requirements.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare reports and provide data analysis on procurement activities, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other departments to support the smooth execution of projects.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new products to contribute to the continuous improvement of the procurement process.
Requirements:
- Procurement Knowledge: Awareness of Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, and Health & Safety Legislation.
- IT Skills: IT literate – including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Procurement Experience: Experience in the procurement and purchase of materials, sub-contractor, and plant (preferable, not essential).
- Design Packages: Some experience in design packages (preferable, not essential).
- Previous Experience: Previous experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably within the construction or housing sector.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proactive Attitude: A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude, with a passion for developing a career in procurement.
- Qualification: A relevant qualification in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field (essential).
Package:
- Salary: £20,000 - £30,000 Basic (depending on experience) + Package.
