We are offering an apprenticeship opportunity within our Analytical Chemistry division, focusing on the preparation and analysis of various pollutants in marine samples under controlled laboratory conditions. This role emphasizes laboratory analysis, including essential planning, data documentation, and maintenance of laboratory standards. The samples may encompass water, sediment, biological specimens, or other relevant materials.

Our Analytical Chemistry team is composed of a diverse group of professionals dedicated to providing exceptional analytical support, data interpretation, and scientific guidance for a wide range of internal and external projects for both UK and international stakeholders.

You will gain analytical expertise and contribute to the daily functions of the Chemistry laboratories. Comprehensive training and supervision will be provided, but candidates should be self-driven, eager to learn, and capable of following directives. Your responsibilities during the apprenticeship will include:

  • Monitoring laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring timely replenishment as needed.
  • Assisting in the management of sample storage and maintaining accurate records.
  • Upholding cleanliness and organization within the laboratories.
  • Complying with relevant Health and Safety regulations and Quality Procedures, including strict adherence to CoSHH and Risk Assessments.

Additionally, Cefas reserves the right to assign further duties and responsibilities that align with your role. Team Leaders and management will communicate any necessary changes, and a revised job description will be provided if needed.
