We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team in a dynamic NHS Hospital setting. As an Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing a high level of clinical expertise and support to patients with cancer and blood disorders.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Oncology and Haematology, with experience in screening prescriptions, providing ward-based and day care specialist pharmacy services, and developing and managing clinical pharmacy services. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening Oncology and Haematology prescriptions for the Chemotherapy day unit and Haematology day unit
  • Providing a ward-based and day care specialist pharmacy service to haematology and oncology cancer patients
  • Developing, providing, managing and monitoring a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to haematology and oncology cancer patients
  • Providing highly specialist pharmaceutical input to these patients, working with the multidisciplinary team
  • Participating in risk management by actively mitigating medication errors in the service
  • Supporting the provision of supervision, support and clinical training for pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals around medicines management for cancer services
  • Making cost-effective recommendations without compromising patient care
  • Deputising for the lead pharmacist in their absence
  • Communicating complex drug or medicine-related information to patients & relatives in prescription medication counselling, drug history taking and reviewing prescription

Requirements:

  • Experience in Oncology and Haematology
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • High level of autonomy and responsibility
