Job Purpose

This role is for a Legal Advisor - Litigation (RTA Non Standard and Technical Recovery) to manage a varied caseload of Small Claims, Fast Track, Intermediate and Multi-track on non-standard Technical subrogated loss recovery, non-road traffic accident uninsured loss recovery (ULR) claims and credit hire matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver robust quality claims handling, with a key focus on maximising recoveries within agreed timescales, in order to contribute to the general success of the business.
  • Be responsible for and conduct a high volume and varied caseload of Technical RTA, non-standard subrogated loss recovery, non-RTA ULR and credit hire claims, making use of the firm's case management systems, and using the agreed internal procedures and practices.
  • Investigate potential claims in order to identify the relevant defendant(s) and cause(s) of action.
  • Gather the evidence required to support liability and quantum in order to give claims the best possible prospects of success.
  • Conduct claims in which liability has been denied and/or with causation issues with minimal supervision.
  • Assess liability and quantum to include reviewing, researching and obtaining relevant statute and case law.
  • Achieve own, and help the team achieve and exceed, various targets set in relation to, for example, monies recovered and lifecycles without compromising the firm's integrity.

Requirements

  • Previous experience of managing your own caseload of subrogated loss recovery, ULR and credit hire claims as well as conducting civil litigation and/or of hands-on conduct of tasks relating to such claims.
  • Knowledge of the law of tort and contract law.
  • Knowledge of civil litigation procedure, including the Civil Procedure Rules and their Pre-action Protocols and Practice Directions.
  • The ability to conduct independent legal and factual research.
  • Competent working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office.
  • A pro-active approach to progressing claims.
  • A focus on delivering quality service to clients and the firm.
  • The ability to take opportunities to develop and stretch themselves and be passionate about developing a career in civil litigation.
