Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and place orders for machined components and other direct and indirect products, ensuring delivery and quality requirements are met by suppliers to meet project deadlines.
  • Support the implementation of new strategies, policies, and procedures, and become a key stakeholder in the supply chain management process.
  • Source and procure materials, components, and services in line with project requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand material requirements and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Requirements:

  • Proven purchasing experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and basic manufacturing processes.
  • Previous experience of dealing with procuring Machined Parts and dealing with Sub-Contract suppliers regarding plating and finishing of components.
  • Full clean driving licence.

  • Early Friday finish - 37-hour working week (Monday to Thursday 8:25).
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Office-based role at our newly refurbished office in Bedford.
