We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Health and Safety Team, you will play a vital role in promoting a positive health and safety culture across our organisation.
Main Responsibilities- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential health and safety risks.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to departmental managers on health and safety matters, including risk assessments and action plans.
- Work closely with operational colleagues to develop and review risk assessments, ensuring they meet the Trust's standards.
- Drive a positive and consistent health and safety culture throughout the Trust, collaborating with colleagues to achieve this goal.
- Prepare and present health and safety reports, providing analysis and recommendations to relevant staff groups.
- Ensure that the Health and Safety Lead and Head of Health and Safety are informed of any risks associated with failure to implement agreed actions.
- Contribute to the development of systems to capture and retrieve audit and inspection information, enabling effective reporting and monitoring of key issues and recommendations.
- Form good working relationships with site Operational teams, particularly the Hospital Sites Health and Safety representative.
- Take the lead on safety projects as directed by the Health and Safety Lead.

University Hospitals Birmingham is a Smoke-Free premises hospital.
Requirements- NEBOSH National Certificate (Level 3) or equivalent/NVQ 4 in a relevant subject or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Health and Safety (level 6) Diploma or equivalent.
- Significant experience of providing health and safety support within a complex organisation, minimum of 12 months.
- Experience of undertaking risk assessments, performing audits and inspections, and implementing health and safety measures.
- Knowledge of current health and safety legislation and working knowledge of health and safety databases and operational processes.
- Ability to adopt flexible working practices and strong analysis, interpretation skills, and judgement.
- Computer skills including working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing programmes.
- Be able to travel between sites as and when required to meet operational requirements and to attend meetings requiring the input of the Health & Safety team.
