Role Responsibilities

As a Research Scientist/Research Engineer focusing on narrow AI applications in biology and chemistry, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing evaluation tasks for various protein design tools.
  • Testing new biological models against diverse reference datasets.
  • Identifying public datasets for validating predictions.
  • Setting up models on computational clusters.
  • Presenting findings in clear formats for policymakers.
  • Exploring innovative applications for tools and methodologies.
  • Optimizing and developing models for efficient testing.

We welcome candidates with varying levels of experience, particularly those with expertise in AI/ML, Protein Design, Microbiology, or Virology.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in Computational Biochemistry, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • For Research Scientist applicants, a strong portfolio of technical outputs such as publications or software is required.
  • For Research Engineer applicants, demonstrable experience in developing machine/deep learning models is essential.
  • Familiarity with modern deep learning techniques (Transformers, Diffusion).
  • Proficient coding skills, preferably in Python, along with strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

For Research Scientist:

  • Experience in designing experiments related to protein design or similar fields.
  • Experience in international collaborations and subject matter expertise.

For Research Engineer:

  • Experience in optimizing large-scale models and handling complex datasets.
  • A passion for scientific inquiry and collaboration.

Core Requirements

  • Availability for a minimum of 4 days per week and a commitment of at least 12 months.
  • Willingness to work from the office with options for remote work.
