Research Scientist in AI Safety

We're a team of scientists, engineers, and domain experts at the AI Safety Institute, focused on mitigating the risks associated with autonomous AI systems. Our mission is to advance the state of the science in risk modeling, incorporating insights from safety-critical and adversarial domains, while developing novel techniques to evaluate these risks.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct research on AI systems' potential to conduct research, particularly in sensitive areas.
- Investigate AI systems' ability to autonomously replicate themselves across networks and establish persistence.
- Develop and implement novel techniques to evaluate AI risks.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to advance the state of the science in risk modeling.
- Experience working within a research team that has delivered multiple exceptional scientific breakthroughs in deep learning or a related field.
- Comprehensive understanding of large language models, including pre-training and fine-tuning.
- Strong track-record of academic excellence, including multiple spotlight papers at top-tier conferences.
- Ability to work with world-class multi-disciplinary teams, including scientists and engineers.
- A comprehensive understanding of AI safety research and its applications.
