We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrine Dietitian to join our dynamic and proactive Paediatric Dietetic team at NHS Scotland.
Key Responsibilities- Work as an integral part of the Diabetes team, collaborating with Consultant Paediatricians, Dietitians, and specialist Nurses to provide high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders, ensuring optimal health outcomes.
- Conduct thorough assessments, diagnose, and manage patients with complex medical conditions, including diabetes and endocrine disorders.
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare professionals on diabetes management, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to the development of patient care plans and ensuring seamless communication among team members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines, research, and best practices in paediatric diabetes and endocrinology, applying this knowledge to improve patient care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols that promote high-quality patient care and safety.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of education programs for patients, families, and healthcare professionals on diabetes management and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Registered Dietitian with valid HCPC Registration.
- Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
- Postgraduate expertise within the speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice, ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within the speciality/area of practice.
- Leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery.
- Excellent team-working/leadership skills and the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
- Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.
- Masters module in Paediatric Diabetes.
- Experience in Diabetes, Paediatric Diabetes, or Paediatrics.
- Experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the area of practice, ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within the area of practice.
- Interest and/or experience in student training.
- Experience of training other staff groups on nutrition.
- Experience in working with groups.
- Knowledge of specialist dietetic interventions relevant to the post and up-to-date knowledge of professional issues, including national clinical standards and guidelines.
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its application in clinical practice, e.g., clinical audit, risk management, etc.
- Knowledge of Insulin pump technology.
