Job Title: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in our schools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the assistance required to thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem and independence while offering encouragement and support.
  • Adjust communication styles to suit the individual needs of pupils, ensuring effective interaction and understanding.
  • Assist pupils with their social, emotional, and mental health needs, identifying and escalating concerns as necessary to ensure appropriate support is provided.
  • Encourage and promote high standards of behaviour, adhering to the school's behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention when necessary.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of individual education and support plans, collaborating with teachers and specialists to address specific learning goals and requirements.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities is desirable.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable pupils.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of pupils and respond effectively to challenging situations.
  • Understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols.
