About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator and IT Support Specialist to join our Technology-Assisted Lifelong Learning (TALL) unit at the Department for Continuing Education, University of Oxford.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the servers, systems, and applications that support our online course delivery, as well as providing tier three technical support to students, tutors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and administer Linux servers and infrastructure
  • Manage and support web applications and services with large numbers of external users
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure production services run safely
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical colleagues and end-users
  • Ensure security and data safety best practices are followed
Requirements
  • Professional experience in system administration and IT support
  • Experience with Linux and web application management
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
