The Role: Health & Safety Advisor
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our staff and students. You will provide expert guidance and support to managers and employees on all aspects of health and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive advice and guidance on daily health and safety risk management, with a particular focus on fire safety and emergency response procedures.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of robust health and safety management systems across the university.
- Conduct thorough health and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Support managers and staff in conducting a wide range of risk assessments to mitigate potential dangers.
- Collaborate effectively with various departments and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A NEBOSH Certificate qualification (or equivalent) with a commitment to pursuing chartered membership of IOSH or a similar professional body.
- Demonstrable experience in conducting health and safety inspections, managing fire risk assessments, and implementing safety management systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Proficiency in using online safety management systems and Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and documentation.
