About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team at Network Rail. As a Project Manager - Training Assets & Equipment, you will be responsible for leading the safe delivery of projects related to our equipment and assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the delivery of Network Rail training equipment and asset renewals and enhancement projects safely to time, cost, and quality.
  • Produce business cases and investment plans for all projects in accordance with Investment Regulations.
  • Provide a professional, first-class, consistent, and effective project management service to Network Rail training nationally.
  • Establish and manage collaborative, cross-functional, multi-disciplinary project delivery teams across Network Rail training and the supply chain.
  • Participate in the development of strategies and framework contracts within Network Rail Training to comply with future capability.
  • Provide detailed input for compilation of the Network Rail training services business plan and production of programme/project plans.
  • Control project change, risks, and contingency within the project life cycle and provide all cost, contingency, and programme details.
  • Provide a safe working environment in the execution of work directly under the post holder's responsibility.
Essential Requirements:
  • Formal Project Management qualifications (e.g., APMP – Certified Project Manager, Prince 2).
  • Successful relevant experience in a complex project environment including demonstrable experience in team management, planning, contracting, and delivery of projects.
  • Successful record of project budget management and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety regulations (particularly CDM) in the training environment.
  • Membership of the Association for Project Management or other professional body.
  • Experience in managing ambiguity in a project environment with strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Demonstrable experience in the Rail Industry Sector (including application of GRIP, Construction Design Management (CDM), and the Common Safety Method (CSM)).
  • Detailed Knowledge of Network Rail's Investment, Commercial, and Procurement regulations and practices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail training projects and contract management.
  • Formal qualifications in risk identification and assessment.
