Position Overview

This role requires a current and active NMC registration.

Ward 4 NSECH operates around the clock, focusing on emergency admissions with a specialization in gastroenterology and internal medicine, catering to adult patients facing acute health challenges.

Our nursing professionals are dedicated to delivering exceptional care in a secure setting, ensuring that each patient's needs are met with professionalism and a holistic approach, utilizing all available expertise and skills. The health and safety of our patients depend on timely assessments, thorough investigations, effective treatments, and compassionate care.

Working in our ward can be both fast-paced and demanding. By joining our team, you will contribute your expertise and enthusiasm to provide top-tier, patient-centered care. A collaborative spirit, outstanding communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently as well as within a larger team are essential.

This position involves a full rotation of day and night shifts, covering all seven days of the week.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will collaborate with a dynamic nursing team to deliver comprehensive care to patients.

You will have the chance to advance in this specialized area while continuing your development as a Band 5 nurse. Numerous learning opportunities are available to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care as part of the ward team under the guidance of the Ward Manager.
  • Coordinating nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff.
  • Upholding accountability as outlined in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Maintaining high clinical standards and ensuring all nursing care meets established benchmarks.
  • Exemplifying compassionate and inclusive leadership to foster a culture of collective leadership within the organization.
  • Engaging, enabling, and empowering team members through a consistent leadership style.
  • Utilizing coaching techniques to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement.
  • Facilitating teamwork and collaboration across departments and organizational boundaries.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Active 1st Level NMC registration.
  • Evidence of qualifications to supervise, teach, and assess students (this is a requirement for the position, with an expectation to complete within 18 months).

Desirable:

  • PP126/7 certification.
  • D32/33 certification.
  • Post-registration qualification in a specialty.
  • Diploma or degree in nursing.
