SEMH Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a fantastic secondary school in the London Borough of Greenwich.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in supporting pupils with SEMH needs, and will be able to work effectively with a pupil who requires support with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual support to a pupil with SEMH needs, helping them to feel calm and settled in a school environment.
  • Work closely with the pupil's teachers and other support staff to develop and implement strategies to support the pupil's emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and other strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the pupil's family and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach to supporting the pupil's SEMH needs.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, including those with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong de-escalation skills and the ability to work effectively with pupils who are experiencing emotional distress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
