Lead Global Nuclear Safety Initiatives


We are seeking a Senior Criticality Safety Engineer to join our Nuclear & Power Division, where you will play a vital role in designing complex new schemes to protect our clients' assets. This role will be versatile and encompass all stages of project delivery, from initial setup to delivery of the finished project.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support delivery on client projects, either on behalf of AtkinsRéalis or within the client's organisation, across various sectors including New Build, Generation, Defence, Decommissioning, and Disposal.
  2. Direct multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex and unique projects, enhancing radiation protection and safety processes and procedures.
  3. Assist in the production of bids and proposals, and contribute to our safety culture.
  4. Develop and maintain expertise in industry recognised radiation transport codes such as MCNP, MONK, and SCALE for k-effective calculations.
  5. Deliver criticality assessments, including development of key associated documentation.
  6. Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements:

  1. Science or engineering degree (physics, chemistry, mechanical, chemical or process engineering).
  2. Experience working as a criticality safety engineer within multi-disciplined project teams.
  3. Teamwork and Leadership qualities.
  4. An appreciation of design in safety critical industries like Nuclear.
  5. An understanding of project and client management.
  6. An understanding of the fundamental factors which contribute to business success.
