NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is seeking a dedicated Specialty Doctor to join our esteemed West of Scotland (WOS) Sexual Assault Service. This service provides vital forensic, medical, and aftercare support to survivors of rape and sexual assault across the region.

As part of a peripatetic regional model, you will play a crucial role in delivering care closer to home for those who need it most. The WOS Sexual Assault Service operates 24/7, with two distinct rotas: one covering 24 hours and another from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You will be part of a dynamic team committed to providing holistic support to survivors.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Responding promptly to both police referrals and self-referrals for sexual assault cases.
  • Conducting thorough forensic medical examinations following reported recent sexual assaults.
  • Preparing comprehensive written reports and providing expert advice to police officers and Sexual Assault Service staff.
  • Drafting witness statements for legal proceedings and delivering objective, unbiased evidence in court.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration and a valid license to practice medicine.
  • At least four years of full-time postgraduate training, with two years specifically in relevant acute specialties.
  • A strong understanding of sexual health issues and a genuine desire to work collaboratively within a team dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual assault.
